N.E.T.G. Awards – And the winners are…

Paul T Davies and Richard  Bland with trophyCongratulations to all the winners for this year’s North Essex Theatre Guild (NETG) Awards which were presented at the Princes Theatre in Clacton on Friday 8th September.

While there wasn’t success for all the Headgate Theatre Productions (HTP), this doesn’t take anything away from the large number of nominations secured in an increasing Guild membership.

The winners at the Headgate Theatre were:

How To Disappear Completely and Never Be Found (Headgate Young Company) – directed by Richard Bland with Chloe Thomas
The Doris Griffith Cup for Best (Dramatic) Full Length Play – Joint Winners with Frankenstein
The Lyndon Trophy for Technical Achievement – Lighting and sound (George Emberson and Daniel Farquharson)

She Stoops to Conquer – directed by Jenny Burke (HTP)
The Giovanna Austin Award for Best Supporting Actress – Helen Kitson as Mrs. Hardcastle

Frankenstein – directed by Paul T. Davies (HTP)
The Doris Griffith Cup for Best (Dramatic) Full Length Play – Joint Winners with How to Disappear…
The David Knight Shield for Best Actor – Harry Bowen as the Creature

Cinderella – directed by Sarah Pawsey (HTP)
The Kerry King Award for Best Dame – David King as Griselda & John Roberts as Gertie

Goodnight Mr. Tom – directed by Dawn King (HTP)
The Brian Whitelaw Trophy for Best Young Actor (21 & under) – Benjamin Spalding as William & Rufus Want as Zach (joint nomination)

Congratulations to Jenny Burke, who was also awarded the Jimmy James Memorial Award in recognition for outstanding achievement in direction for her work across many years at Dedham Players and who was the director for She Stoops to Conquer at the Headgate.

And lastly, but by no means least, congratulations to Dave and Dawn King, who were awarded Honorary Life Membership of the NETG for their tireless work at the Headgate Theatre over many years, including the establishment and continuing development of Act V and the Headgate Young Company.
