THEATRE ARTS ACTION TRUST – Putting the Action into Arts
Passionate about theatre – passionate about everyone having access to performance arts, regardless of age or ability
The Theatre operates as a Company Limited by Guarantee and is registered as a charity. The Objectives of the Trust can be summarised as the provision of a building which can be used for:
– The promotion of amateur theatre, educational drama and other associated performing arts.
– The promotion of public appreciation of the art of drama and other associated performing arts.
– Performance by schools and teachers of performing arts in all its forms.
– Promotion of arts based activity for special interest groups.
Strategic oversight of the operation and development of the theatre rests with a small group of Trustees. The Secretary to the Board of Trustees can be contacted at secretary@headgatetheatre.co.uk
The Trustees are developing a new strategy and workplan and setting some short to medium term priorities. As part of this, a workshop was organised to gather views and ideas from a diverse group of Headgate theatre-lovers, volunteers, staff, technicians, hirers and performers. It was an impressive turnout with lots of energy and enthusiasm, giving us inspirational ideas and helpful perspectives. There’s work to do but our aim is to agree and publish our strategy later this year.
The latest Annual Report and Final Accounts of the Trust are available on the Charities Commission website
The main business of the Theatre is organised through the Management Group, which meets quarterly, and a range of sub-groups which incorporate a wider range of volunteers.
