Headgate Theatre Productions is looking for Directors for the 2027 programme!
Headgate Theatre Productions is an award-winning community theatre group which produces an average of six productions each year. The productions for 2027 have now been selected. Some titles have been carried forward from submissions made for 2026, and directors have already been allocated to those productions.
The full programme is as follows:
- The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter – w/c 11th January 2027 (director allocated)
- 2:22 A Ghost Story by Danny Robins – w/c 28th February 2027 (director allocated)
- Till the Stars Come Down by Beth Steel – w/c 16th May 2027 (director allocated)
- The Girl on the Train, based on the novel by Paula Hawkins, adapted by Rachel Wagstaff and Duncan Abel – w/c 1st August 2027
- Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth – w/c 26th September 2027
- Beauty and the Beast – w/c 12th December 2027 (playwright to be determined)
We are now seeking expressions of interest from the theatre community to direct the two unallocated productions and the pantomime. This will be followed by more detailed interviews to explore how your outline vision could be realised within The Headgate Theatre.
Please indicate the production you are interested in and provide details of your directing/theatre background, along with your preliminary vision for the production. If you wish to propose an alternative production, please include this under “Other”.
Technical specifications are also available on the venue hire page of our website. The Headgate will provide technical support from our volunteers for these productions; however, if you have specific individuals you wish to include within your production team, this should be highlighted at interview.
By submitting an expression of interest, you consent to your information being shared with those directly involved in the selection process. Personal information will not be shared outside of this process.
Selected directors will be invited to participate in an event at the Headgate on Sunday 12th July 2026 to announce the 2027 season.
Please note that we do not pay our directors. However, reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
