And the NETG Award winners are…

The North Essex Theatre Guild (NETG) Awards celebrate local amateur theatre across the area.

The casts and crews for Headgate Theatre Productions in the year ending July were fortunate to receive a total of 34 nominations. And at a celebration at the Princes Theatre, Clacton on the 12th September, the lucky winners were announced.

THE PETER JONES AWARD for TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENT
Lighting, projections & the Magic Mirror effect in Snow White
(joint with COS for The Little Mermaid)

THE DEREK PAYNE AWARD for BEST YOUNG ACTRESS
Maddy Smith as Lucetta in The Two Gentlemen of Verona & as Laurel in The Chalk Garden

THE GIOVANNA AUSTIN AWARD for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Leanne Howard as Dorine in Tartuffe

THE DAVID KNIGHT SHIELD for BEST ACTOR
George Penny as Alan Strang in Equus (joint award with James Potter as George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life for Colchester Theatre Group)

THE DORIS GRIFFITH CUP for BEST PRODUCTION – DRAMA
Equus directed by Sharon Carter & Toby Roberts

Congratulation to all the winners and nominees, and to John Worland, the man behind the magic mirror effect who also received an Honorary Life Membership of the Guild for his contribution to amateur theatre over many years.
