Colchester Theatre Group presents: New Writers’ Workshop

Be the first to experience a brand-new play developed by talented local writer Hollie Baines. This is Colchester Theatre Group’s inaugural New Writers’ Workshop, designed to showcase original work from emerging playwrights. Alongside our full-scale productions, this new summer slot aims to provide exciting opportunities for the region’s up-and-coming writers to develop and present fresh, thought-provoking theatre.

This year’s play is ‘Singled Out’ by Hollie Baines, a sharp, thought-provoking exploration of relationships, free will, and what truly makes a perfect match. What if finding love wasn’t left to chance? In a future where romance is controlled by a dedicated department, a highly accurate algorithm determines perfect matches. But when two young adults fail to be paired, they must navigate a world that insists love is just a numbers game.
