There are a number of ways to get involved at The Headgate Theatre – whatever your interest or age!

Whether you’re interested in auditioning for an upcoming Headgate Theatre Production or helping backstage with props, sets and costumes, there are opportunities for everyone to get involved.

Our regular groups, such as Act V (for the over 50s) and Headgate Young Company, run regularly throughout the year alongside a varied programme of workshops and other community activities.

With events taking place in our auditorium most weeks of the year, there are always opportunities to volunteer for roles such as front of house, working behind the bar, stage management and sound and lighting operators.

Headgate Theatre Productions

Headgate Theatre Productions was established to ensure that the theatre’s programme included a wide range of drama productions alongside those produced by our hirers, as well as a means of generating further revenue to help run the building. We welcome interest from performers, directors and those who might help with technical support

Act V

Act V get involved in all things theatre! Our weekly sessions at the Headgate run on Monday mornings from 10.15am- 1pm in our friendly, supportive environment and are open to those aged 50+ (or thereabouts!). Each session includes tea/coffee and biscuits. Break-times are always lively, and a place where new friendships are made!

Headgate Young Company

Headgate Young Company (HYC) – all performance, production and creative roles will be undertaken by people aged 16-21, with guidance from experienced facilitators and supported by our volunteers.
The sessions will be innovative and challenging, and participants will be given the opportunity to develop theatre skills and knowledge across a range of genres. There are performance opportunities throughout the year.

Volunteers

The Headgate Theatre is a volunteer-built community that all share a passion for developing exciting theatre. We are always looking for more people to join us. We have a range of opportunities – whether that be engaging more with the public or gaining worthwhile experience in backstage assistance and technical support to our in-house productions.

Workshops

During school holidays, the Headgate Theatre sometimes runs musical theatre or drama workshops for those aged 8 to 14 years. Packed with fun, the workshops include the opportunity to learn performance skills, make new friends, and finish with a free performance for an invited audience.

Wider Community

Throughout the year, the Headgate Theatre offers a range of community activities including Yoga, Pilates and Silver Swans ballet to engage with our local community. Whether you enjoy, singing, dancing, acting or exercising, we’ve got something going on for you.
