Sonnets Revisited

Monday 12th and 19th April at 10.30am

Facilitated by Annie Eddington

A year ago, as we grappled with life in lockdown, Act V explored Shakespeare's Sonnets, responding with their own attempts at the form, producing a deeply moving and heartfelt collection. Now, as we prepare for life after lockdown, we will revisit this powerful channel that allows us to express our thoughts and anxieties, our hopes and fears.

An Exploration of Characters in Two by Jim Cartwright

Monday 26th April and 3rd May at 10.30am

Facilitated by Dr Paul Davies

One night in a pub – a landlord and landlady, and a host of regulars. Jim Cartwright’s superbly crafted play will be performed at The Headgate in June (subject to government guidance in place at the time). This workshop enables a deeper exploration of the text and the characters that inhabit it.

Cost: £16 for each pair of workshops

Theatrical Niche present "Obscenities"

Friday 30th April and Saturday 1st May

Theatre Niche have previously brought productions of Uncle Vanya, A Doll's House and Metamorphosis to the Headgate.

Their latest production is a comic mini-series of 3 short films following several South London women as they battle workmates, musical divas and their own bodily functions in the pursuit of their ultimate ambitions.

This warts-and-all mini-series examines life now, with hopes and dreams unblemished.

These films have been made available to venues that have previously supported Theatrical Niche, with all ticket proceeds supporting that venue.

Whichever price you choose, all receipts (less the ticketing agency fee) will come to the Headgate to help meet our costs during closure.

Suitable for ages 15+ due to language

Tickets from £3

Play's the Thing

Monday 10th, 17th and 24th May from 10.30 to 11.45am

Facilitated by Vamos Theatre

Vamos Theatre is delighted to be teaming up with Act V to deliver three sessions from their Play's the Thing course. Using tried and tested Vamos techniques, games and exercises, these interactive sessions will look at how we connect, play and create work together. We will explore some of the techniques behind mask work, how we create meaningful connections in our GP training and in our work with people living with Dementia; as well as methods that we are currently using to direct a show in Shanghai from our base in Worcester. This short course will celebrate and champion playfulness, connection, and collaboration. Not suitable for Zoom on a phone. Must use Tablet, Laptop or PC

Cost: £27 for all three sessions
